My 2007 new shape Ducato came with the standard front door speakers.
These as people will know are sadly lacking from any decent sound from the car radio the main reason being that they are positioned very low down in the door
i have upgrade these to higher quality speakers with a slight improvement.
On newer vans i have seen extra speakers in the windscreen post covers that brings the sound stage up.
I have removed my windscreen post covers as they just pull off , i think i could get 3inch speakers in but would rather use larger 4 inch speakers.
i know i will have to make a grill or drill holes to let the sound out
Not wanting to pay a million pounds from a dealer fo parts does anyone have any idea of the size that would fit?::bigsmile:

All I will say is dont confuse size with quality.
I would buy better speakers of the correct size rather that cutting bigger holes:thumb:

Not quite true Geo. Although today by clever electronics they get surprising sound out of small speakers but generally in speakers Size Matters.

I'm speaking as an Olde Farte here of course. 3" or 4" were just Tweeters in the good old days, that's pushing the top end of the sound spectrum. Then you'd have 8" for mid range and 12/15" or bigger for base. It's all about the physical size of sound waves.

So 3" or 4" is only going to push out the high notes, it might sound crisper, it won't make any difference to the mid range and bass.

brought on by having to switch off for to the drone of the missus and forgetting to switch back on:ROFLMAO:

My statement is absolutly true Brian Tis you who have twisted the context
Your suggesting by cutting a bigger hole for a bigger speaker the quality will be better:RollEyes:
3" Sony V 4" Halfords Ripspeed specials as an example:Doh:
Do not confuse size with quality stands:Cool::thumb:

If it's the high end of the sound your struggling with go specifically for 'tweaters', any good car audio place (not you er, high street usualls) should be able to sort you out, and these are usually very small complete tidy and therefore easy to retro fit.

Ah yes, in true forum style I answered the question he should have asked.

So let's go with your flow....

Sony 3 inch or Sony 4 inch ?

But you are quite correct quality counts.

And size.
