Hi, Karen and Ken here, we pick up our very first motorhome tomorrow, we are looking for lots of hints and tips to get us started. They say ignorance is bliss but in our case its a bit daunting. While parked up but not connected to a hookup, is it best to use the battery or the gas, for little things like maybe boiling water or should we buy a 12v kettle?

Hi and welcome from Thebus Phoebe and Me :)

Get a cheap whistling kettle for the gas ring, and plenty of baby wipes, they clean anything from greasy plates (don't let the scraps go down the plug hole) to work surfaces.

Welcome to the fun, Battery is a limited resource and should not be used to heat anything or you will soon be left with no power for the water pump/WC flush etc let alone lights. Fridge only on 12v when the engine is running or again a flat battery in no time.

Dont forget the 240 sockets will not work when you are not on EHU unless you have an inverter

Thanks folks, Think we will sleep on our drive for the first time, once we are a bit more confident - the world is our oyster! Just been out and bought a whistling kettle, already have bedding so we're good to go.

Hi and welcome to the Mad House of Funsters :welc:

Why not camp in it on the driveway for the weekend. By the end of it you'll know exactly how, what, where and when :)

Use mains hookup if ever possible, then gas for the fridge and water heater
