New carpets all models

I have replaced all the shabby brown carpets in our 2014 Broadway, I was told by a neighbour about a carpet dealer in the Market at Leek Staffordshire Moorlands.

It took him a week to make them, he copied the old carpets and bound all the edges, I told him that I didn't want the table leg cut out as we don't use it. I've picked them up this morning at 6-30am and what a job he's made they are stunning.

We didn't like the original brown as it made the inside of the motorhome dark and we've picked a lot lighter design. The only thing he couldn't do was fit press studs but if needed I can sort that out, anyway I can highly recommend the dealer that has made them for us total cost for all the way through the van £70 we are well pleased with the look of interior now.

John.

Hi John

I changed ours from the old Hymer blue to a nicer colour, I used a foam backed carpet and cut them from the originals and then got them bound, the foam stops them moving so dont need any press studs.

Look great though.

Sounds very reasonable, isnt it nice ro get a job done and be happy with it.
We got a roll end of flotex off eBay for £70 and used the originals as a template. No need to bind edges and can remove and scrub it easy. We had the opposite problem to yours as our carpets were far too light. We have over compensated, its now too dark ....…..

Fist job I did to the Hymer was remove the carpets and store in the loft..

They were like new.. the previous owner must have had the same idea..

everyone thinks differently.. but I see no sense in carpets in a van..

We always remove carpets to keep them new for resale time and usually replace with mats. Just we spotted the flotex and thought it was a better idea. We don't like bare floors. As you say each to their own

I made carpets for mine from Gel Backed carpet, lightweight, cheap & can cut with scissors, cost about 40 quid & if it gets grubby or tatty after a 2 or 3 years cheap & easy to replace.

We lifted our carpets too as they were far too light with having a dog. The light ones certainly make the place look brighter and larger though.
Replaced them with a few dark runners which I cut to fit. The dark doesn't show up the dirt or dog hairs as much.

Since 2009 with motorhomes several caravans then tents before that.
We used ours as they were intended. But never wore shoes inside.
They got a quick Hoover every day when we're in there.
Just like the carpets at home.
They are still like new. We did have them cleaned before putting the Motorhome up for sale , but they didn't come up any cleaner. They are beige /gold coloured too.

Took ours straight out as have dogs so prefer not to have anything that holds smells. Later after a couple of layout changes they no longer fit so gave the set as new back to our conversion people and got some money off our bill :).
Have some of those washable runners which we put down when wet to absorb wet paws.
Guess will have to think about getting a set made if we ever want to sell the van :)

As Neckender above, we had our carpets made by the chap in the Leek indoor 'Butter Market', using our old ones as a template. He does a very professional job at a bargain price and has a good selection of carpet to choose from.

Ours were about 1/10 of the price quoted by ' specialists', look very good and fit perfectly.:clap:

He may visit other markets too, I will try to find information and post on here.

Almost a Newbie but not quite now.
We too bought a piece of carpet (runner) from the market at Leek. Very pleased with it and when in hot weather remove fitted carpets and just use the runner. Isn't it nice to have a cool floor underfoot in hot weather.

I just tore out all the old dark green carpet as I had some new light coloured carpet given to me. I couldn't use it as a template because it looked like a bodge job anyway, spent two full days relaying it,the cab area was a nightmare to do but I'm happy with the result and the whole interior looks much more spacious and lighter.

We believe the best place for motorhome carpet is the loft at home.
Fitted new vinyl flooring, just brush the dirt and dog hair out.

I'm reading this wondering how you lot got your carpets out of your vans ?
I'm my van they seem to have been fitted first and the seats cupboards etc fitted over the top after. The carpet runs throughout the van and even under the fridge,

When I retired, one of the company directors who I had used many times over the years to supply and fit carpets and other flooring materials throughout the school, asked me what I would like as a retirement present. Jokingly, I said he could replace Elle's carpets at a reduced price. He willingly took them all on as sample sizes, we picked the colour and a week later he turned up with a big package in my office. I had a quick look and offered payment but of course he refused. We fitted them that night, the cab and main carpet were fantastic, the one for the toilet, cut to shape around the loo and shower tray had been cut up side down!! (Rough side up!) I didn't really want to tell him but he wanted to see what they were like in the van. On hearing of the mistake he was very embarrassed and had another made correctly in a couple of days. There are some nice, and appreciative people out there. ::bigsmile:

I cut mine around the edges where it went under furniture then cut wood beading to go round after I relayed the new stuff. I was building caravans in the 80s and the carpet and vinyl always went on before the walls were even fitted.

Ours were already in sections held by press studs through cab and into shower. Just lifted and used as templates

We have fully fitted (cant be removed) carpet in our van. I got round that by buying a set of removable carpet off ebay tjat was for same year van and style and put them down on top of origanal carpet.
so now have warm but removable carpet that i can take out and clean that fits round all the edges unlike putting generic mats/rugs down.
was an fab ebay purchase.
