I'm a newbie of 2 days
I'm on my 5th trip out in my motorhome and
for first time ever (courtesy of lovely campsite neighbours)
I've discovered stabilisers on my mh.
No more rocking in the middle of the night as I turn over!
I'd never been in a mh until I bought mine, and knew
absolutely nothing about them, still don't know a lot :ROFLMAO: but
delighted with my new discovery.

Put something on the steering wheel when using them to remind you they're down, or you'll look daft trying to drive off and plough your pitch at the same time

Second that. We actually put the winding handle for the steadies across the brake clutch and accelerator pedals. Heard several stories of people driving off with them down. They soon realise!!!!

We have coloured string for the various bits and pieces, i.e., stabilisers, ariel etc which we tie to the steering wheel. Its a bugger getting old and forgetful.

We use "slap bands" remember them? I use a permanent marker on each one ie: step out, steadys, fridge on 12v, on levelers you get the picture. I fit them on the steering wheel as our "pre flight" check!

I bought mine from Ebay, not this particular seller but the seller I bought mine from doesn't have any in stock.

Check List

Too many bands and strings for me.....I keep a book with a checklist and check it twice before moving off.

1/ All roof lights closed.
2/ All windows closed
3/ T.V. locked in position
4/ T.V. aerial retracted and locked in position.
5/ Fridge to 12v and locked
6/ Gas off at main switch
7/ Levelling ramps in locker
8/ Electric cable stowed
9/ All lockers closed and locked.
10/ Nothing hanging on cupboards or hooks
11/ Walk round inside and out for anything out of place,

Oh and make sure the fridge is stocked with beer for the next stop......:thumb:

We don't use reminders....yet.
We rarely use EHU and don't have a TV, so the procedure is simple: ramps, if used locked away. Mrs A shuts and checks all windows, and I look along sides through door mirrors as we drive off. Fridge is auto select, so does its own job. Quick look down the van inside to check all lockers shut. Dogs in correct travelling places or they squabble!

Pull away, stop 5 minutes later to lower one or more roof lights.

Pull away, stop 10 minutes later to find whats banging about in one of the cupboards, usually a bottle or unsecured water / wine.

Pull away, and we're off..

Every time!

Allan
