EUROTUNNEL has confirmed it will appeal against a ruling by the UK competition watchdog that it should close cross-channel ferry service MyFerryLink by the end of the year. But Eurotunnel’s CEO Jacques Gounon warned that the appeal might not come in time to prevent the company from having to cease operations at the end of the year. Mr Gounon said that although MyFerryLink “has a good chance to win” on appeal, it is likely that any decision would only be made after the expiry of the six months the company has been allowed to wind down its services. The Competition Commision has also recently started a consultation on closing the service.

I didn't understand until I read the Wikipedia article...

"On 6 June 2013 the UK Competition Commission ruled that Eurotunnel, which leases the three MyFerryLink vessels to the SCOP, could no longer operate ferry services from Dover.[1] The ruling was appealed by Eurotunnel,[2] allowing sailings operated by the company to continue as normal, but this decision was overturned in January 2014, allowing MyFerryLink to enter Dover.[3]"
