I am very mild natured but there a few things that wind me up

    1. Being treated as an idiot because I have grey hair.

    2. Being put on hold for ever and a day

    3. Imported Americanisms e.g. 24/7, Have a nice day etc.

    What gets your back up?

Totally agree with you. I would need a toilet roll to list all my hates. The worst is after contacting anyone with a problem there standard anwser is always they haven't heard of that before.
We all know this is a total load of crap and must be at the top of all company anwser lists. My other is CC sites where anything I request to do is met by an explanation of the six thousand page rule book, chapter and verse.

There's a new technique being used now which is even more infuriating. They phone you and then make you hold until they are ready to speak to you.

As some of you might remember, I had a problem with the Water Company sending me a ridiculously high bill. Not only have they not amended it yet, they are starting to chase me for the original £400 they said I owed.

I've had a couple of calls from them using the new technique, at tea time and taking forever to get to finally speak to someone.:Angry:

I'm actually beginning to feel sorry for the poor call-centre people because they get the full force of my anger by the time they deign to speak to me.

People who get grumpy over things that are actually useful.

24/7 is an extremely useful contraction. My business operates 24 hours a day 7 days a week 52 weeks a year. That mouthful is more easily covered by saying 24/7 when people ask when I am open.
I have seen no evidence that this is an Americanism...

What really makes me grumpy though is any man made noise when I am trying to enjoy some peace and quiet on a rural site.

People with loud exhausts or big base speakers.

People who don't indicate or indicate way too late.

People who use their phone while driving.

Shop assistants who insist on finishing a personal conversation while you are queuing for service.

People who don't train/control their kids in public.

People who don't control their dogs in public

Damnit. You said three. Bad idea to set me off :Rofl1:

    Please define a "sponger"
    And are politicians not spongers?

He joined in 2012, he's still in training.

Me, well I just can't type fast enough so I'll not try, otherwise I'll never make Chester.

But if shifty comments, Jim will never afford the next data bill.

You still have not defined a sponger
I was made redundant in January after 20 years of solid work,
I am receiving Job Seekers Allowance while I look for employment,
Does this make me a sponger?

Do really need to ask ? It's perfectly obvious you aren't. You've put far more in that you've taken out.

Good luck with the job hunt, it's never been harder than right now.

I think you answered the question yourself
    Quote
    While I look for work
20 years of solid work and contribution to the system
So the system is now rightly supporting you in your time of need

Sponger someone who has no intention of work nor will ever contribute
Except someone who is genuinely Medically unable to contribute
    And I do mean genuine
I hate to see how our welfare system is being abused

I work for a company in north east and we get people looking for work everyday and I wish we could employ most of them
We olso get people who have been sent by various agency's around the area who have no intention of being employed but are just jumping though the hoops
    Or get their benefits stopped

If I have offended you I am sorry but I have a instinctive dislike for people who do not try to earn a living
And good luck in your quest in finding work
