My other half can now do no wrong (for a short while)
For my recent 60th birthday she arranged for me to fly in a Spitfire!
I have always had the greatest of respect for the people who flew them in earnest and whilst enjoying my flight last Wednesday my thoughts briefly turned to what they did for us day after day.
Then I had to concentrate as the pilot let me fly this wonderful machine for the next 10 minutes, up, down, bank left, bank right, absolutely stunning! He didn't let me do the barrel roll (probably a good idea) but he performed it flawlessly. To soon it was over but it will take a long time to get the smile off my face.
So a very big thank you to my wife and to all at Biggin Hill Heritage Hanger

My mum's stories of dog-fights in the B.o.B. and the 'Brylcreem boys' she nursed, started my love of flying.

Flying one of these machines in peacetime and the visit to Biggin must have been amazing. Happy 60th and well done the other half for the pressie.

Well done.(y)
Jax paid for me to go in a Harvard for my 50th, at the time the two seat spits weren't available, that was bloody good fun too. :D

Never leave a campsite with your clothes line tied to a lamp post.
Totally green with envy, what a brilliant day.
