My new wheels (1 Viewer)

This is my new set of wheels, it's a Suzuki of 1999 vintage, only 400cc, but handles and steers well, it is low and light, 159KG, which suits my short legs, the main things are that I probably wont see another on for a while, does 65-70mpg, and mainly because it puts a smile on my face when riding it :thumb:

i used to have a cbr 400 r r( fireblade ) japanese grey import . it was fantastic and it embarrased many a larger heavier sports bike in the twisties ! it was a bugger to work on though because my hands were always too big to get in at anything !!

Although am not a lover of Jap bikes I quite like that one. I only ever owned one Jap bike and that was way back, a Suzuki 250 Hustler.

Yes they are drum brakes, but 4 leading shoe type and surprisingly effective, but I only ride at about 60-70 mph where possible, and with strong engine braking, it has all the brakes it needs, I also did an IAM course many years ago which taught you to read the road ahead trying to anticipate other road users sometimes unbelievable behaviour.!!

That's where experience counts, poor youngsters still have a naive concept of "my right of way".

Looking at it again, but for no oil underneath it could well have "Made in Britain" stamped on it.

I hope it's smoother than the f650 BMW I ran for 18 months, I could not live with the vibration on that. Worst at 60/70 which was a real pain if going anywhere.

I have just sold my BMW F650 Funduro, I totally agree about the engine, harsh and vibratory, especially at about 5000 rpm, also would not run smoothly at low rpm, always had to change down or increase speed to get rid of snatching, this Suzuki is totally different, very smooth for a single and can be ridden down to 25-30mph in top gear then gently pulls away again, loving it so far, woudn't say no to a few more horsepower though.:thumb:

Big 4 stroke single love it, when I was a lot younger I hankered after a Yamaha XT500 oow I REALY wanted one, never had one though, I ended up with a KH250oh:

On our Japanese bike, I always had a problem at a certain speed, as my eyes and my glasses seem to resonate at totally different frequencies to each other, which is really not a very nice feeling at all. Shame really, is what the thing was built for, I had to ask Pete not to do it too often. (120-ish mph.)
