Hi everyone, my name is Paul and my wife is Jackie. I’m called Griff (to my face) by everyone who knows me. I’ve recently returned to Motor Homin’ as the last 20 years have been spent as a sea gypsy. You can see from my Avatar that my existing form of transport uses very little diesel but has no wheels anyway. I’ve been a member of ‘MHF’ for a couple of weeks and have viewed so many photographs and blogs that I am convinced that you are in the main a bunch of nutters.

Bikers, self builds, RV jockeys, technophiles, fishermen, golfers, hikers, drunkards, photographers, Jokers, wind-up merchants, ex tuggers, full-timers all with the same passion for getting away from it all in your motor-Home. I think I might fit right in.

I’ve loads of questions concerning Gas, Muggings, Toads, Garmin vs TomTom, Generators, Solar Panels, reaching 70 and needing a new licence etc. but I don’t have the balls to ask you lot because of the ensuing P*ss taking………..

Hope to see you all at a meet, though according to the map most of you live North of the Watford Gap, there’s only ‘Fidget and me in the central South and he lives in the tax haven of the Isle of Wight.

All the breast…….Griff..........:winky:

Griff,

Just a few helpful notes for your transition from sail boats to motorhomes: -

When "mooring" for the night, you do NOT need to put out an anchor.
When travelling to windward, DO NOT tack from one side of the road to the other.
In high winds, broaching is unlikely. A capsize is, however, still possible.
You may dispense with your seasickness remedies, unless your suspension is suspect.
You will not need to worry about destroying the natural habitat of sea horses.
You DO NOT have right of way when on starboard tack. This is particularly important when approaching roundabouts.
A satnav and/or cruise control do not function in the same way as an autohelm. DO NOT go into the "cabin" to make a pot of tea and expect to remain on course.

And, finally, you will notice some round black things on your motorhome. These are called "wheels". They are NOT fenders. DO NOT attempt to remove them once you are on your way.

Welcome and good luck! ::bigsmile:

Hi and welcome to the fun, as a pomponian noe living in Devon I guess I am local to you, well when I visit the island anyway. Del novawight lives in hayling and other members do live in Portsmouth so you are not as islolated as you may think. I once had a chandlery shop at Eastney, now prefering a more leisurely lifestyle in Devon. Hope to meet up some time.

Thank you for the 'Bump' @LilacMoss and for digging it out @Jim (I suppose).

Of course when I originally said "you can see from my Avatar" there was a picture of the Beautiful Yacht that I sadly sold last year, though I keep my eyes open but deep down I'm pretty sure I'll never own another one.

Just found your village in Malta.
Thank you Terry, I missed this post from just over 4 years ago, and I've been to Malta to see Popeye's village. When I went in I showed them this MHFun forum and pointed out I was Popeye and I was treated like royalty.
I wouldn't have looked if it hadn't been for Offagain seasrching back for their 1st post.

Lockdown does this........ we're all going doo-lally.

Reading those early posts it doesn’t sound like much has changed in the intervening 9 years!
