Hi
Just to let everyone know.
Some toe rag has been trying to sell first a EHU cable then a small campervan on my Ebay account.
I managed to let Ebay know on the EHU but the next day when I saw the campervan I just edited the listing with DO NOT BID - SCAM-SCAM ETC.
How do these people ever expect someone to actually pay them for a collect only item?
Just shows we all need to keep our eyes open.
Don

Any idea how they got access to your account? Presumably you've now changed your password?

Out of interest, do you logout of your account each time?

An IT security guy I worked with in the MOD always maintained that you should never tick the 'keep me logged in' box and always be sure to log out of an account each time before leaving any website or closing down the computer.
He also encouraged the use of complex alpha-numerical-punctuation passwords in mixed case, regularly changed especially on internet banking sites.

Thankfully you noticed the issue before it became a huge problem. Probably worth changing all your passwords to be safe.

I had my Amazon account compromised just before Christmas, was told it was by someone in Wales. Bit worrying.

Ps, not by the fact it was someone in Wales, more that someone tried it on.

Also worth remembering Amazon hold card details so I delete mine after each purchase before logging off.

The eBay phone App keeps you logged in unless you dig around in the menus to log out. Can't say that impresses me.

The other possibility might be if the password was too easily predictable by password cracking software.

It happened to me a few years ago. When I reported it to eBay their first question was 'When did you last change your password?' A long, embarrassed, silence then I said 'I've never changed it'. Hard to blame eBay for that.

Be careful when changing eBay passwords, they have a habit of loosing data. Once when I change mine Turbo Lister wouldn't recognise the new password and I lost all the data on 300 active listings took me days to sort out.
