MP3 through USB port on Boxer (1 Viewer)

My Elddis motor home is on a Peugeot Boxer chassis. It has a USB port in the compartment beneath the radio. I assume I should be able to play mp3 or ipod through this connection. Sometimes it works and sometimes not. Am I missing someting?

I had to buy a new/replacement radio to get mine to do that

We have the Boxer base and have a USB port and Bluetooth in the centre cubby. I can connect an iPod and it plays fine. Can't remember if it works with my iPhone, I usually use Bluetooth though, it's easier than fiddling around plugging the phone in.

Do you have to select the input or source on the radio? I know on my Autotrail unit I have to tell it what my input is. The fact that it works intermittently is a puzzle but perhaps you inadvertently select the correct input or it is intelligent enough to recognise it automatically?
