Picked this up off another forum.

"Has anyone heard of Millers Field motorhome stop
on the edge of Ambleside? It's attached to the large council car park and
they charge a fiver per motorhome per night for secure parking and a tap. If
you're over 6 meters it's £6 per night."

Anyone know or tried it?

Yes, we stayed there for a couple of nights back in December at the start of the cold spell.
It was quite busy on the Saturday night - over 10 vans in I think, but we were alone on the Sunday night.
Very good facility. We didn't get to meet the man in charge - just left our money in the honesty box.

Sure, contact for bookings is Graham Drylie on mfmcambles@hotmail.com
Here are his directions:

if coming from the Kendal/Windermere direction you will join the one-way road system coming into Ambleside, almost as soon as you hit the one way system you will see a roadside council sign for 'Miller Bridge Car Park', follow the sign and you will see the entrance gate to the campsite area. If coming from the Keswick/Grasmere direction you'll need to go through Ambleside village centre then rejoin the one way system again and follow as above. If it's any help the postcode for the site is LA22 0EE.

dellwood33 - perhaps the name and phone number you've posted might be for a particular rally, unless things have changed since December?

Certainly the contact details I've given were correct for booking the Aire at that time..

Ambleside 'Millers Field' stop over

:thumb:We tried this site in February and it was excellent. It is very close to the town centre. Some pitches were a little muddy. It is adjacent a council run car park. The site is locked with a combination lock and you ring the owner for the number then leave £5 in an envelope and post it in a shed on site. He has water but is planning to get a WC disposal. Hope more of these appear.

And its got to be the cheapest parking in the area:Smile:, and right in the thick of it, CL's are normally secluded or at pubs etc.

i can understand why the prices have gone up on this site but lets be fair it would probably cost more than £10 to park a car for the same length of time in one of the unsecured public car parks in the area. and you wouldn't be allowed to sleep in it either.
and to be honest if i know that my £60k+ motorhome is going to be safe £10 is not a great amount of money.
