We use the one from the dark side too. Always been competitive. Think it's with Aviva.

We would be very interested in anyone other than Comfort underwriters-Aviva who will cover full timers.
Proper full timer - declared as such with only a c/o address in the uk. Not "I am a full timer but gave so and so's address and it will be fine"
Any other firm inc Aib just refuse on being told of no uk residence.

We are insured through CC&C as they were willing to give us 180 day cover on motorhome and 180 day unoccupied house cover.

Comfort - Aviva.

After the performance of my pet monkeys at Aviva the other month they won't be getting the renewal though no matter what they quote.

10 years this time
Full time cover with AVIVA. The Broker is Comfort.
Horizon Plus cover has no trip limits with the proviso of 180 days max in a year in any other country than the UK, so 364 days abroad is possible, includes breakdown cover with no size or age limit. Not a cheap option as premiums are double to triple that of standard motorhome use cover.

Some reports lately of refusal to cover vans over 20 year of age even on standard policies. Ours is 25 and no problems with renewals.

If it is of any help to your project.........

Liberty Seguros (in Spain) but they also trade in UK as Liberty Insurance (I think). Only company I was able to find offering Fully Comp for our van, 20+years old. Been very pleased with service when needed.

Aviva (through MHFacts) had policy for a good few years.
They were excellent when we needed to claim and consistently offer competitive renewals, so stick with them

Liberty Seguros. Me too, use them for the breakdown cover across the EU and UK, which is in the price of fully comp cover. The cover is for the vehicle, so anyone over 25 can drive it. In Spain the vehicle is insured ( NO named driver ) not the driver.

Unfortunately, on our "summer trek 2014" the old girl broke down twice requiring a callout for recovery both times. The response from Liberty was incredibly fast even with routing the call through Barcelona. AA affiliated and even local garages responded within the hour. At no time did Liberty fail to advise/inform us what was happening. Breakdown cover included automatically/routinely in cover as mentioned in quoted post.

@Jim If Liberty has been included on your list, best remove it as just discovered they are no longer active in the motor insurance sector in the UK. Business is now operating in N Ireland only. Very strange.

NFU, but it does depend on the branch you deal with. I dealt with Louth about 5 years ago for my 20 ton RV, no problems they were used to large MH's, which had been my advice. The local to me NFU branch did not want to know. I now have all my vehicles with them including a specified value trailer. I have found their prices very fair and never had cause to fight at renewal.
