Hi,

We are hoping to get our first motorhome this year having done the usual caravanning thing over a 10 year period. Bit disappointed to realise that damp problems can also afflict some motorhomes. Do poor road surfaces play a part in rattling the silkaflex joint seals?

Our price range of about £25,000 looks likely to involve a 3 or 4 berth Hymer or Dethleffs. A fixed French bed layout with a reasonable lounge for us both to relax in would be great.

We aren't in a rush as such, presumably the summer isn't the best time to buy?

Cheers

Since 1964 Gosh that makes me feel old.
Hello & welcome. Yes I often feel that its poor road surfaces to blame for at least some of the problems of water ingress on seals of motorhomes & caravans. Still its worth it for the freedom that a motorhome gives you, especially in your neck of the woods. Sometimes we don't need to go far to enjoy a chilled out break.

Do you ever come down to the Perth area? I was looking on Gumtree at a few from this shop what had lots of nice vans in your price range

http://www.scotmotorhomes.co.uk/

Yes, had a look in at Scotmotorhomes and Dicksons. Nice stock but nothing really in budget.

Skye has had the very best of weather over the last 2 months or so but tonight its rather wet n windy sadly.

Feeling more than a little bit sorry for all the good folks heading to Skye. Our weather which was the best in the country has reverted back to normal sadly. Wet with a touch of very wet at times!

Glad that the weather was OK for you. It's a mixed bag at the moment, yesterday was sunny but back to rain again. The views and scenary are constant but the weather is challenging.

Hi Rich, by the beginning of Sept the midges have lost most of their appetite. Still about, but less of a problem. Skin so soft and camping where you get a breeze are best. Stay out of forested areas and you should be fine. Are you wild Camping? Not many camp sites and they will be full based on current brisk occupancy across Highland.
