I own a 51 plate Hymer B544 on a 2.8jtd Fiat Ducato. Taxation class is Private/Light Goods, weight 3400kg gross, 2800cc, heavy oil, 2-axle-rigid body, etc, etc, etc. Vehicle details have not been changed since first registered in 2001. I acquired the vehicle last year.
Recently when I received my insurance renewal it seemed a little high so I decided to shop around. When phoning a couple of other companies they asked me to confirm the body type as recorded on the V5C certificate. The body type is recorded as "SPORTS". Only my present insurer was prepared to insure my motorhome given this body type. I contacted the DVLA but they have been less than helpful quoting all sorts of forms to complete and fees to pay to change the registration document.
Has anyone else had a similar problem? What body type is recorded on the V5C for similar vehicles owned by other members?
