When doing the mot, does the tester have anything to do with the body,..ie floor, step, door etc??

Only if its within 300mm of a structural part of the vehicle, or a brake/suspension/seatbelt mounting.

no...except possible a visual check to see if any part of the body is a danger to the public, sharp bits sticking out unintentionally etc.

on the cab a badly rusted wing shouldnt fail the test but a wing with a gaping hole and jagged edges may.
