Anyone clued up on the MOT rules? Just had a thought talking about seat belt anchors. I fitted a swivel seat base on the passenger side. The base had an anchor point for the seat belt catch but that stuck out a tad so i took the angle grinder to that and used the one that is on the seat, However. The one i cut off was on the top half of the swivel plate and my standard one is on the seat attached to the top hald of the swivel plate. Is this right for an MOT? Is the swivel ring strong enough to hold back in the event of a crash or should i get a couple of floor mounted catches?

I have my dids on a swivel plate for the drivers side and this is set up like this also.

Our Transit base has the buckles on the seats themselves. They rotate with the seat
The swivel bases are FASP.

It came like this from new.

Other than corrosion the only test is security tested by a tug and a look to see if the mount appears secure
there is no right or wrong place for the mount
It'll do for the tester, BUT will it save your life? most questions on safety are sparked by an inner lack of confidence
are you confident in what you have done
Pics always help with such questions

Fitted swivels on both seats on a transit.. The seat belt mounts were on the seats... I relocated both on to the seat plinth so the seats swivelled without the belts following :).
Involved a fair bit of work to do it the way I wanted...ie removing both seat plinths to do the work..
Andy.
