Great stuff! Would be interested in your route and experience as we're planning on going over late next year.

Interestingly we were in Spain earlier this year and most of the service stations around Gibraltar/Cadiz were advertising cheap ferry crossing tickets

Morocco.... The first trip !!!

For those who are interested in how to do it for the first time, with a little, (lots really) help from your friends who have done it before, this is our journey.....

Saturday 17th November. Weather Cold & damp. We left Preston @ 12.30 (ish) for the 21.15 Ferry Dover-Calaise £34 booked with the Caravan Club. Arrived Calais 23.45 GMT+1
We stayed at Calais for the night, we parked in the services secure car park for 14 euro.
Sunday 18th November. Weather Sunny turned to light rain.
We still had 1/4 tank of fuell, so did not fill up, (we thought it would be cheaper further on), WRONG, (don't forget we have a 80.4 gallon (360ltr) tank and do about 10mpg), it was 1.42 euro per ltr in Calais, when we filled up in Abbeville it was 1.44euro per ltr. Not a big difference. We stopped for the night on the Services (just after Tours) after a total of 344 miles
Monday 19th November. Foggy, soon turned to sunshine.
Set off 9.20am continued through France, filled on board gas tank (for cooking/generator @0.90E per ltr. because it is VERY limited in Spain where you can fill an onboard tank.Crossed the border into Spain @ 17.00.Fille up with diesel @ 1.31.7euro, Stopped on the services for the night @18.30 after a total of 406 miles.
Tuesday 20th November. Cool but sunny, turned very warm.
Travelled a total of 498, along toll free roads. Where we saw snow on the mountains, and the sun shining bright. Stopped @ services just before Saville.
Wednesday 21st November. Raining, turned into sunshine 25c
Set off for Algeciras @ 9.15.Arrived at Lidl after 136 miles @ 12.15. A total of 1384miles through France and Spain.
(Juan Carlos now has an office which is attached to Lidl !!) 200 euro for an open return. This is one place where SIZE does not matter.... Topped up with the important bits, went to bed.
Will update in the morning. sue and Dave

Still In Asilah

We are still in Asilah where we have met some very nice people. at least 70 degrees today. Seen some strange sights, people walking down the motorway, cars with no lights, 3 or 4 people on one bike, & that was in Manchester on the way here.:ROFLMAO:

We are staying on what can only be described as a redundant (in winter) car park overlooking the beach, which has 2 guardians working 12 hours each, they are both very helpfull, it is on the roundabout just over the bridge on the N1 as you approach Asilah from the North, it is a very good place to watch the people going about there day to day lives. There are now 17 motorhomes on for the night. We went to look at the parking by the Madina no vans there and it did not look as safe as where we are.

We are heading south in the morning, probably stopping at Larache unless something else takes our fancy on the way.

Just a quick mention, when we left Algeciras, the port was having an extensive "face Lift" :cry:there was a lot of confusion and people going the wrong way, us being one of them, before we new it a man jumped on the motorhome to show us where we should have gone, he then asked for 20euro, I said no and gave him 2 as a thank you he said that he should get 20 and it was his commission for the ticket. I refused and after a few words he left saying 2 was ok. When we arrived in Tanger Med there was none of this, only proper officials. Who got the job done eventualy.

Happy days Sue & Dave

PS how do I put photo's on

Saturday 24/11/2012 Another hot sunny day 70 degrees

We are now in Moulay Bousselham on a campsite called Camping and Caravaning international, it is a very nice site with clean toilets and showers, it has a restaurant, launderatte and is situated at the edge of a lagoon, the fishing port is about 100yards from the gate, where you can buy fresh fish for 20dh per kilo which is about £1.53.
The pitches are a good size and you can park where you wish, including electric it is 80dh per night £6.15.
We will probably stay here for 2/3 nights, then move further south.
We have only travelled 118 miles in Morocco, but we have seen some amazing and some stupid sights

Sue & Dave

Sounds to me your having far to much FUN:winky:

Yes, but little do they know one of Snowbird's team are actually hired assassins paid to put an end to this, these are hard times, we can't be having too much fun, they are specialists in reversing polarity and gas attacks, they even carry an exploding A-frame.

very accurate weather forecast

Can't believe how accurate the weather forecast was, it said slight rain on Monday evening, and it rained (well spotted)for about 5mins.

We have now left Camping Caravaning International @ Moulay Bousselham  we had 3 nights there, all for 240dh including electric.
If we come to Morocco again we will probably head for this camp site for our first stop instead of stopping at Asilah. For 30dh more per night you have the chance to do your washing, fill and dump, lots of local shops even buy fresh fish,(they come to the fence around the lagoon selling it).The camp site also has a nice restraunt which sells fresh bread what else do you need.

So as near as near as makes no difference €7 a night. And good weather. Cheap food. Cheap fuel.

You've got to be on a winner.

I'm tempted to call off the hit squad, but, we can't be sat here freezing, drowning and you having all that FUN, can we. It's just not right.

Thanks for the interest

We have had a bad reception the last couple of days, we are now up and running again.

THURSDAY 29TH November hot hot hot and sunny

The weather forecast for the area we were in around MOULEY BOUSSELHAM WAS NOT GOOD:cry: !!! RAIN, RAIN AND MORE RAIN, WHICH WE GOT CAUGHT UP IN ON OUR TRAVELS.
We are now in KAOUKI BEACH which is in a small village about 13 km south of Essaouira, we are staying at Camping Kaouki Beach and is VEEEEEEry Nice and welcoming.
There are a few "surfers" here, as it seems to be geared up for them, David said he might get his out tommorrow:whatthe: and give it a go:Eeek:
The campsite is very nice we can see the sea from the rv.:thumb:

Enjoy the pics,

Keep safe Sue & Dave
