Mobile phones (and PDAs) are computers so it is possible for viruses to be written to affect them just like any computer. Google <cell phone virus> for examples. Having said that the likelihood of infection is many times less than it is for a PC.
Bluesnarfing is a more serious threat and even that isn't particularly prevalent because it is easy to prevent if you use security on bluetooth devices.
So long as executable files for mobile phone/PDA are sourced from reputable sites I wouldn't have thought it worth bothering with any AV software.
