With effect from 6 April 2016 it will be compulsory for all dogs to be micro-chipped and for all puppies to be done by the time they are 8 weeks old.
It is also compulsory for all dogs to wear a collar and tag regardless of whether they are micro-chipped or not.
There are a few places doing free micro-chipping, such as the Dogs Trust in certain area, although as they are a charity it would be good if you made a donation.
