MH Covers: advice (1 Viewer)

We have previously stored our caravan locally at a farm. It was stored on a hard standing with around 10 other caravans and some MH's also. The place is ideal for us as it's a 5min walk away and IT'S CHEAP !!!! Indoor storage here is big bucks coming in at around £800-1000 p/a so we have opted to keep our outside place for our new MH however I am seriously thinking about a cover, mainly because of the sun (UV) which I can tell has affected our caravan in the 6yrs it has been stored there. The weather here is good and much dryer than the UK, OK it's colder in winter and the UV is likely to be longer and stronger.

What's peoples views on covering a MH ? Was thinking about covering it Oct - March for example.

Anyone recommend a make, supplier etc

Also how on earth do you get them on a MH ?????

i would say don't bother with a cover just give it a really good coat of a high quality polish.
covers are ok but if someone breaks in nobody would see the damage until you remove the cover 5 months later.
also they seem to rub the paint off the van with their movement in winds.

We have bought a second hand van and the decals/grafics on the van have started to come off. The dealer said this is because the van has been stored under a cover and in the warm weather the van has sweat. They advised us not to use the cover.

Personally would never store a van under a cover, have seen the resultant damage done by rubbing on paintwork and that was under an expensive cover.

Can't beat washing and a good polish.

We went to look at a m/home that had been stored under a canvas cover. What a mess, the paint was scuffed from the cover moving in the wind and fungus and mould in gutters and around windows from where it had sweated.

Before that we had considered getting one as we park under trees and get a bit of green on the van in the winter but one good wash and its gone for another year. Also watched a guy and his wife putting one on a van Oh My God what a palarver could have sold tickets to watch it
