I looked at profile and no message / conversation link is listed..
Check on my settings and there is a Check box for it's selection.. Maybe they unclicked it when first joining..

I thought I was going to be saying I'll have half of what you're on tonka! Well, like you, I can now see a start conversation link which definitely was not there before and I've managed to send a test message. Curiouser and curiouser......
