On and off for many years.
For what my opinion is worth (not very much) I think you have had a lucky escape.

Where are you in Scotland? I can give you a couple of places you might want to try. Reputable dealers who sometimes have vehicles available that are in your price bracket. South east Scotland.

Private message me if you want the details. No affiliation just people we spoke to when we were looking.

Hi all
Have decided to withdraw my bid due to van not being advertised accurately and asking extra for a back up battery. So thanks to all who gave me advice it was all welcome and useful information. Any links to anyone selling a van will also now be welcome. we are first time motor-homers and not looking to go above 15,000.

Sorry for for my doubting post and glad you got out of buying two scrap vans joined together but if you want my advice which you probably don't, have a look at something like this eBay 111326496102 , it's in Scotland, I know it's older than you were looking at but looks genuine and would save you five grand:thumb:

Phew! I am glad you didn't buy it, too many if's and but's. Lower your expectations on the age of the van you are looking at and you will find a cracker for that price. Just put in Hymer on ebay or Autotrader and we what comes up. Don't be put off by their age.

There are other makes that age well - Dethleffs, Tabbart to name just two. It all depends what your are looking for and if a left hand drive is acceptable to you. You may pay a little less if you don't mind a lefty.

Good luck in your search and don't forget to ask on here if you are not sure about something. :thumb: I think we all want to know that you get sorted out now.

Our second motorhome was an ancient Hymer and it was great. When looking this time round we thought about a Hymer Swing but too many internal levels :(

There are lots of lovely vans around, take your time and the van with ou ame on it wl come along.

The thing that kills motorhomes and caravans is damp..... age isn't that important if it has been maintained.
