Mercedes Hymer wheel trim oops (1 Viewer)

Cant post a photo as at work, will look on laptop later

Mertrux have our MH in for brake service work, they have gone on test run and lost a front wheel trim

Although they have a Mercedes centre disc plate, they are apparently not a Mercedes trim

Anybody got any ideas where I can get another, Mertrux will pay

I did point out that they are screwed on and can't just fall off

he said 'I know' that is why we will pay, he just called me to ask if I knew where they might get one from before I pick it up on Thursday

look a similar style but mine were plastic and lot less bling the fronts are different to the backs on mine

they are the closest to what we have now, (or had) I have told Mertrux I am not going to hold them to the exact same, provided they fit and look decent

16" wheels, Mertrux say the twin wheel design is the oddity for them, front and rear wheels both have the same bulge in the rim so they can bolt together for the rear

It's not the end of the world, certainly will not top us going away next week

How much bad luck can you have.

Looking at the pattern on them I'm 100% sure they are a Hymer part, the only place you will get them is via a Hymer dealer.

You could try Campirama in Belgium, the wheel trims are Hymer parts whilst the centre stars are Mercedes. We had the same problem on our older Hymer but the trims were out of production so we went the Euroliner route.

David, the numpty who changed our brake pads broke one of our wheel trims.
While not the same as yours the replacement was supplied by Hymer in Germany.
Darren @ Browhills (01636 704201) was able to order the part from our Hymer serial number - the delivery time was about 2 weeks.

Morning Sue, it appears the person who refitted it, didn't both with the fixing bar and screws

If I had been his boss I would have sent him out for a walk looking for it, they are pretty robust and probably hasn't broken just fallen off

These things happen, but always more frustrating when they are so avoidable

Technically Brownhills are no longer Hymer agents, good to see they can still get bits

Will see how Mertrux have got on when I pick it up, they might just change them all

Collected MH today, turns out it was a rear wheel trim not front, but still no easier to get a replacement as it is a Hymer only part, still might be easier to find a rear though as it is common to all Hymers, the fronts have the bulge where they fit over the single version of the twin rears (does that make sense) on our Chassis we have twin wheels on the rear axle that actually bolt together, they have a large dish shape in the centre which are mounted opposite ways round and bolted together The front are the same rims, but on the front the bulge faces out so needs a different shaped trim

I thought at first it would look awful with different trims front and back, but in reality it doesn't look too bad

Mertrux have still said they will also pay for a Hymer trim if I find and buy one, they did send the mechanic out to look for the missing trim, he only went about 4 miles on the test run, but no joy.

Still all now ready for the off next Tuesday, just alarm, awning repair and race to Folkestone from Taunton, then enjoy 16 nights away

I actually don't really mind that much Sue, they did seem apologetic enough about the whole thing and have already given me a pair of replacements for free that look half decent, these things happen and if I make them get one I have still got a 30 mile round trip to collect it, easier to get it delivered to me

The only thing that has crossed my mind, did they leave the cross bar and screws fitted ready for the new one to attach to if I do get the new Hymer trim? Will take cover off and have a look

I might not even change them, as the front and back trims are so different from each other anyway with the shape, it doesn't look too bad

I will post photos here later for you lot to help decide

One other choice I have, they have swapped both back trims and given me back the Hymer one from the rear which I might refit, as you can never view both sides at the same time, it might be nicer to only have one different (if that makes sense)

I know this is an old post @DavidG58 but it came up when I googled Mercedes Hymer Motorhome trim, I have had a similar experience to you! Was your old one like the attached? And if so do you still have it? And if so do you want to sell it?

Hello Simon, I think so, funnily enough I found it yesterday going through an outside 'locked' store

I will pull it out in a bit and check its the same, if it is you can have it, we had new ones fitted by Mertrux, different style, but they match front and back on same side at least

I am easily confused, we lost a rear one and Mertrux bought in 2 x Mercedes replacements, but not the domed ones, so we now have unmatched wheel trims on the rear wheels, but TBH look pretty much the same apart from shape and being 7m apart are not overly obviously different, they are shown in one of the photos above

I do now recall the manager at Mertrux saying, thank goodness we didn't lose a front one, we cant find these domed ones for love nor money, bearing out comments earlier in this thread that they are probably Hymer

So back to my fist reply, we have a domed one taking up valuable storage space, it's yours Simon, how badly do you want / need it ? We don't have the mounting metalwork anymore, or the screws, but otherwise all there including the centre disc as far as I recall, but will need to confirm that in daylight, we got distracted by follow up CCTV downloads ref our pond life intruders when I got home tonight hence my delayed reply

we can post it, you can come and collect it, we could meet on our way to chunnel next Tuesday, but we must go via Coventry to drop of my mother, but will be on A42 about 10:30 - 11:00 M6 about 11:00 and near J3 M6 till about 14:00 Mum is going to a place close to J3 M6, then heading south
