Had considered driving our camper down to our house near Alicante in Spain but changed mind and flew down. Wrong choice given the current situation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We were due to fly home last Thursday but flight cancelled, rebooked for next Tuesday but given the current situation don't hold out much hope of flying so have decided to drive back to UK (luckily we have our own car here in Spain).
Setting off Sunday to get Tuesday midnight sailing so plenty of time.
Does anyone have any reccomendations for hotel/hostel near Spanish border and then about 1/2 way through France?
We would stay if we didn't need to get back especially as Insurance company is paying £100 per day for missed departure!

Hi,

Often stop in Narbonne about 40 miles from French/Spanish border. Turn off J38 and there are several budget/3 star hotels. We have used Hotel Plaisance several times. Basic but comfortable. Just down the road is one of the Casino Cafeteria. Great cheap self service restaurant.

Another place we have stayed many times is Motel du Val de Villiers in Chaumont. Not far off peage motorway. about 300 miles from Calais. Very reasonable, comfortable and peaceful and good cheap evening meals. Haven't been there for a couple of years so hope is still the same.
