Hi, we are setting off for Spain on Sunday and wondered if anyone knew what the motorways were like at the moment. When we went down in the Autumn the M1 was very congested with roadworks etc, does anybody know if it is reasonably clear at the moment, and if not should we try the A1. We are travelling from Yorkshire.

Thanks

Ginny and Mike

hi Ginny, I tend to prefer the A1.. it's slightly more interesting.. and last time I used it, it seemed painless (I think a lot of the intersection roadworks had gone)

M1

Clear run from Kent to Shrewsbury last week using the M1. M1 just before M25 now open, M2 has still got a few road works.

M1 or A1

I tend to prefer the M1 on Sundays, it seems a bit quieter than the A1. However avoid the M1 after about 4pm when it seems to get very busy with people heading home or to work.

I have travelled down from Derbyshire to London and the only bad bit was around Jn 28 to 26 where they are widening the road near to Nottingham.

We normally use the A1 but last week moving from Chertsey to York we used the M1 and found it problem free apart from one accident sslow down.

No Contest Mike A1 everytime for where you are heading, assuming you are heading for Dover, go A1, A14, M11, M25, A2/M2.

Tone, (40 years Trucking) retired 3 years but doubt anything major has changed.:thumb:

A1 for us every time unless we are going to wales/the west.

A1 is great now they got rid of all the roundabouts:thumb:

A1 is preferable we always use that when heading for Dover same as Tone A1 A14 M11 M25 M2/A2 M1 always seems to be a pain plus thre are some new services on the A1 :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
