They're illegal to use! Oh no they're not! Oh yes they are! Oh no they're not!

Hopefully that should save some time....

Note - you are only supposed to fill to 80% says the ad. But how do you know when you get there?? The proper refillable bottles all have cut offs at 80%.

They use quantity as a measure . Generally 12 litres to a 6kg bottle at 80%
Its not idiot proof or fail safe hence illegal and stupid.

many many years! since I was a kid
a brilliant way of ensuring more garages refusing to authorise lpg pumps when a motorhome pulls up. One of the most stupid things for people to sell pretending they are safe.

Do a search for @Snowbird s thread about getting freeze burns from a propane fill gone wrong. should tell you all you need to know about messing about with propane and equipment that doesnt meet safety standards

But what about the bottles that are sent back half full?

i use something similar all the time. legal? don’t know not been caught yetttttt. filling bottles is not that straight forward, lots of issues. get it wrong and you could have a serious accident, burns, fire explosion, death so if you need to ask the question then imho leave it alone.

I did think about posting on this thread and then thought better of it. Its a bit like dumping your grey water under the cover of darkness. No one will admit doing it, but many do .

yes.. so very true..

I admit I have used one of these adaptors .. and know how to do safely.. but would never endorse or advise anyone else to buy one or indeed use.. and don't have it anymore..
it's these adapters that have made LPG forecourt attendants overly cautions when we go to fill up with a pukka re-fillable system..

It's like a lot of dodgy electrical practices.. that no one admits to..

like pushing wires into 13a sockets .. tapping into live overhead lines, using nails for fuses.. ha ha.. we sparks are the worse offenders..

I'm off before I get excommunicated from Fun :imoutahere:

PS.. never done the grey water secret dumping
