Sorry I'm back again,is it recommended that you use low watt electrical appliances and are there some that just don't work as good and not worth getting ?

Do you mean 12v or 230v ?

12v kettles and hair driers etc....keep your money in your pocket...worse than useless.

230v low wattage kettles etc will work fine albeit a bit slow compared to your kettle at home.

1kw should be ok for a kettle and hairdriers should all be ok....but not at the same time depending on hookup amperage.

My view findings on camping and low power.
If products are around 1000w and MAX 1200w then they should operate from a 6amp supply.
6amp seems to the default supply on older campsites, some aires and sites that really want to restrict supply when it's included with the price.

Top of the list to buy, Remoska oven from Lakeland, a 2 litre slow cooker.
Invaluable for excellent meals with minimum of effort.

We have three 800W items that work a treat on our 1500W inverter, one at a time of cause.
A hair dryer, said to be like ours at home on the low setting, I don't use it be Linda says its acceptable.
A cheapo two slice toaster used occasionally.
But used most of all, like several times a day is our travel kettle. Its holds 0.7 litres which perfect for our two large mugs of tea/coffee, hot chocolate. It takes 6 minutes to boil, and takes 75Amps from the battery. As 6 minutes is tenth of an hour, it uses say 8AH from the battery which the solar panel regularly replenishes in around an hour. We have had our setup for a year and seem spot-on for us.

Or 580watts for the 4 ltr version.

Not exactly a slow cooker but a compact oven.

Cooks a whole chicken in half the normal time.....including a crispy skin
roast spuds....no prblem.

Anything you can do in a conventional oven can be done in a remoska....including cakes and bread rolls.

Ours is the standard or smaller of the two, I didn't want to slightly deviate the thread but apart from a couple of recipes there is one the the manual States about page 3 slice some spuds, onions and carrots, place in our case 2 chicken legs on top, drizzle with olive oil, salt and pepper, and cook for about an hour in our case, last 20 minutes add 200 Mils of chicken stock, wonderful flavoured gravy, and oh yes the crispy skin, yummy, haven't had that for many a year but I am now

Easy one that, pressure cooker = loads of steam, slow cooker no steam just lots of yummy aromas, plus it`s electric, so not using your gas.

Don't get conned into buying a special low wattage toaster. One labelled as a 'caravan/motorhome toaster will probably be around 800w and cost around £16/20. basic domestic toaster from Argos same wattage costs £4.99.. Basically anything with the word 'caravan' in the title eg toaster, kettle, microwave will cost more than double the same wattage household appliance.
