Lots of foreign Mhs on Canterbury Aire last night (1 Viewer)

We havent stopped at Canterbury aire for about 5 years - usually preferring to cross first and stop the other side, back then it used to be 3 or 4 mhs on it.

What a surprise when we turned up last night, the main aire was full and the overspill was busy and so many of them were foreign, never seen so many foreign mhs in UK at one spot. Just over 50mhs in total including 13 italians about 8 germans, 2 spanish, 1 french and 1 belgian. So nice to see them coming over here for a change.

Doubtless some of it is because the exchange rate has turned for them, but what a shame we dont have more accessable places for them to stay at.

They are probably doing a tour of UK Aires and will turn round and drive back to Dover/Folkestone for a morning crossing

Quite possibly because of the M20 being closed and all other roads gridlocked but it a good time for europeans to visit because of the exchange rate.

Making the most of it before BREXIT..

feel sorry for them.. they will be expecting the same friendly welcome and abundance of overnight stopping places that they enjoy at home..

dream will soon be shattered..

Seemed like 2 overseas vans for every uk one in Scotland recently.
Italian French German and Dutch.
Always see a few, but good to see so many.
All were wilding or in laybys for the daytime. A lot more 'aire like' options in Scotland

It was the same last year in August, we couldn't get in as it was full with Mainly Italian Vans.

I think it is well publicised now in all the forums and Euro apps so a victim of its own success especially in high season.

They seemed mostly to be genuine tourists.

We spoke to some of the Germans who were at the end of a 3 month trip to Ireland, Scotland and England and had a lovely time but complained that not enough service point s. I have to agree.
