40 yrs and still not got a release date
I remember seeing a post a few years ago where a couple got together. They had met at a motorhome club for solo people.

They had each made lots of friends in the club but as they were now a couple they were asked to leave.

A bit of a dilemma that! ::bigsmile:

I joined a club called the island proffesionals when I lived on the isle of wight 10 years ago and a lot of them ended up as couples. The singles then felt left out ,then left, just leaving.couples In the group. Not what was Intended.much better to meet In a mixed group.

A slightly different slant on the thread, I was separated and single for a few years and my way out of being a lone motorhomer was to put a regular small add in my local papers singles column. I found this to be a great way to get away most weekends with new company which I preferred. You end up with a list of motorhome converts that are just a phone call away. This doesn’t stop you travailing alone occasionally if you would prefer. Give it a try, it worked for me.

I don't want to be a couple..... and so much as I have lovely friends who are married .... the chance to be with other singles, especially if they too are happy with their lot, would be much appreciated. If someone is single and then pairs off then that's their choice and it would then be necessary to encourage more singles to come along to take their place.

Can't see anything wrong with a singles meet if that's what people want, or as someone else said a doggy meet, or girls only meet or men only weekends ..... free world so live and let live.

I was a shy, retiring, quiet sort of chap who would go to the motor home shows on his own and camp in the general parking fields...

And then I joined MotorHomeFun... :Eeek:

Just look what happened to me!

If people want a singles only meet I have no problem with that. The whole point of my original post was to point out singles/solos/ married, cohabitting or whatever we are all (almost) adult funsters, and people should not feel excluded because they are not the "NORM", My intention no matter how clumsy was to show singles and solos they should not/need not feel left out.
I did not go into what is a single or a solo but in fact a solo could quite easily be part of a couple who travels alone or even for that matter socialises on their own even if travelling as a couple. All are welcome, no one should feel awkward or excluded. Almost EVERYONE is a little shy or apprehensive at their first meet that is normal human behaviour and to be expected. Despite all that has been said by various people I still cannot see the need for a singles/solo meet however its your choice and I do respect that, I don't think badly of you for it, if anything at all I just feel deprived of your company. sad isn't it. I apologise to anyone I have upset with this thread it was not my intention, quite the opposite.
I'll just go back and hide in my corner and let you all get on with it.

I do not really look at people as a couple everyone is an individual and I never really thought of anyone as single or married to put in a box when I meet them

We met a lovely couple at Wrenbury who had felt a bit left-out on their first night because nobody recognised them as being 'newbies'. It can happen to anyone.

They soon started making new friends and I think they enjoyed the weekend.

Perhaps Jim should start issuing some new badges:

I'm New, Please Talk to Me
I'm Single, but I Don't Want to Talk to Anyone
I'm Single, but I'll Talk to Anyone
We're Swingers, Please Talk to Us
etc etc etc..

Awwww Roger, you can't possibly have upset anyone with this thread... everyone is just giving their opinion. One good thing about a singles FRIENDS' Group means that you can talk to people of the opposite sex without it being seen that you are on the pull, or even laugh with friends of same sex without it looking ... er well, likewise.. Perhaps solo friends group, sfg, might be a title .... or as Taran Las said we could always put a bell round our necks...:winky:
