1. £12 seems a bit low, Griff. Are you getting mixed up with the Congestion Charge?
2. I don't think it is good advice to shred it because they will definitely pursue it and it could get costly. See Here regarding daily and penalty charges.

An interesting thread. As a regular user of the M25 Dartford crossing I wonder if I was directed off the M25 due to it being closed would I be liable to the LEZ charge even though I have been directed into it by the "authorities?"

Think you need a police officers coller no ,
date and time and place
The reason and any other info you can collect
Preferably record the police instruction and you saying
I am not lez complient then construct a letter
And beg and plead you may just get the charge dropped

Bare in mind it's government tax !!!
Which means they are right at all times
Unless you can prove otherwise

Its a 2001 2.8 JTD, I'm pretty sure it isn't compliant but thought I'd double check as it would be handy to be able to come into Walthamstow where my daughter lives.

No.. It won't be compliant.. But to come to walthamstow you could stop at lea valley camp site in sewardstone road and get the bus..
