A MH Virgin!
Well hello and thanks for letting us join your gang - you look like a friendly bunch and what prolific forum users! We'll never keep up with you all.

So, we're SteveF1968 and HO, MrsF and are just starting out on the process of researching MH'ing. Of course we have endless unanswered questions at this stage but know we'll find answers to many of them within this forum - thank you up front for all the long standing users who have created such a massive archive of material.

We've decided that, provided the infamous spreadsheet says we can just about afford it, we're going to take the plunge, sell up, buy a MH, hit the road and just see what adventures we can have. We can't bear the thought of leaving it any longer and fretting about a future that we can't control - we've worked hard for what we have an now it's time to kick back and enjoy some of it.

We look forward to chatting, picking your brains endlessly and joining you in MH'ing freedom very soon.

Hello welcome to fun, you have found the right forum for your research, so many already doing what you are planning with many different ways of going about it. One thing I would do is become a full member £15 a year you will then have full use of the facilities, ask as many questions as you need, as well as benefiting from Funster discounts etc,

I may be talking out of turn and you have plenty of experience.. but if not, if you have never owned a van, or done any sort of camping or caravanning perhaps better to try out before selling up.. ?

you may love it or hate but you won't know until you try .. ... you could also hire or borrow one to try for a week ..

It's a big step.. and easy to make a wrong decision which you may regret ..

I would also suggest you have an exit plan..

at some point in the future, either through ill health or just tired of it you may want or need to go back to a house...

perhaps renting out your home which will give you an income.. or selling up and buying a small flat you could rent .. a future place you can retire to..

just ideas.. all the best of luck

Hello and welcome!:WelcomeFlag:
Reading through many threads I've seen that it is possible but what has come through many times is don't rush the decision to sell up keep an address even if let out as full timers need that address for documentation post etc.
If you join the £15 will mean you can access so much more information as Jim does a useful thread on buying a MH and full timing .
Good luck and look forward to hearing how you get on . This forum is like a family extension ! Always there to help , advise and have fun with! It also has many interesting and humerous characters.enjoy!!

Thanks WillH - Wise words but don't worry we're not putting all the eggs in one basket just splitting a tray and using some of them to make what we hope will be a tasty omelette, the rest are being put to one side for later ;).

Thanks scotjimland, wise words, we're planning exactly as you suggest - being cautious by nature has meant it's taken far too long for us to reach the decision to go for it but also means that every conversation includes a list of "what ifs" ;)

Thanks for your message, my head is spinning with all the great advice on the forum. I'd be interested to know a bit more about your experience of importing... Was it direct from the manufacturer? Did you go overseas to order or manage to do it remotely? How did you get on with snagging and after sales? Any other advice on the process would be appreciated.
