If you are using Micro Soft Edge browser,I have now found a way to turn the annoying animated avatars off - albeit only temporarily. All you have to do is click on the page with the animation on and then press the Escape key. It will stop those pesky smiley things that jump about (I suppose they are laughing). When you go to another page you have to repeat the process, but until @Jim comes up with a way to turn them off permanently it will have to do.

Please work on it Jim.

Hmm, seems a shame to isolate some members of your community..bit of an us and them thing going on.
Oh well, us scummy pond life normal members will just have to have a non moving avatar. How will we cope ?

Perhaps viewing of animated avatars on this forum could be an option in individual member preferences settings in their profiles. If this facility was available in the forum software you would be catering for member's wishes as clearly there are some who would prefer not to see them on the forum for a variety of reasons and others who take great delight in having them available.

Obviously, if these animated Avatars are causing you problems, it would be a good option to be able to isolate them, or turn them off.

We had that Avatar for years, (here and elsewhere) but we both gave up the evil weed, however, a certain individual expressed their preference for our smoking Avatar, once they became animated again, so here we are..............portraying a blooming major fire risk. ........................

The page you linked to says pressing Escape won't work in MS Edge. Well it does!

According to what I've had a quick read of with MS Edge you can't have the avatars turned off permanently at the moment so you have to keep doing it yourself ... sorry!
