Leisure battery (1 Viewer)

Well we are visiting freezing UK and are looking to buy new leisure batteries when here. ( they are around half the price of French ones !! )

Can anyone advise sealed or unsealed ???

I prefer unsealed, as they can be topped up. There is still loss slowly from sealed batteries but very difficult or impossible to top up.

I dislike the term "Leisure Battery"........ it's just a battery.....

It's like anything with "Motorhome" added to the name, the only thing the word "Motorhome" adds is ££'s to the price.....

To me it depends how you want to use use your van, and what you require when you are in it?.... so .....

All LED lights or old energy hungry halogens?
2 TV's, DVD player and Sat system, or no TV and just a book?
Lots of gadgets to charge, or just your phone?
Have you one 80Ah battery or 3 x 110 Ah in your battery locker?
Do you have solar back up?

so so many variables.....

You could go the distance and buy expensive traction batteries which are excellent especially if using off hook up, in winter for days at a time, or you could buy cheaper but decent quality lead acid batteries, which will also serve you well, especially in conjunction with a bit of solar.


I prefer unsealed by the way........:thumb:

My choice for general leisure use is low cost Lead Acid which can be topped up with water.

as mentioned, don't be conned by terms such as 'Leisure' or 'Marine' .. it is simply words and may as well say Mickey Mouse.

They recone most batteries are rebadged starters nowadays, but they all use water and need topping up so go for unsealed, if you are full time or use your battery lots then Trojans are probly one of the better one's for the money, Link Removed
