Large M/H MOT Wiltshire area (1 Viewer)

I am struggling to find a garage with a facility to MOT our Tag Axle Kon-Tiki. Total length is 8.5m but more importantly it is 5.8m between the front and last axle for ramp purposes.
I used Redvers in Swindon last year however they are between premises at the moment and closed for MOT's.
Rygor Commercials in Westbury only have a ramp suitable for 5.2m between axles.

Can any Funsters advise me of anywhere local to Wiltshire they know of?

I dont know anywhere in Wiltshire. I use M&D services in Fishponds Bristol they have a long pit rather than a ramp. It may be worth giving them a call to see if they can accommodate you.

Check for a local council repair & mot centre.

If you can't find it on your local county council website ring then m and ask.

Councils run their own mot centres which the public can use. All the taxi drivers will also use them

They have no repair incentives so you get a fair mot it's either right or it fails. Absolutely no failures to generate a bit of income in repairs.

Had mine done in Bridgend for the last couple of years. They also start work at 07:30 which suited when I worked.

Mot cost £40 ish for a tag axle kontiki

Hi Jim. I use Crown Garage in Shelton Mallet. They are part of the Framptons Transport setup so are used to working on long, high and wide trucks.
Give them a ring.

Thanks for that Serendipitous, trouble is with the Kon-Tiki is the weight and length! Will try the Thamesdown buses site in Swindon.
We are re-locating too........off to the Dordogne, sold everything in UK, and we need to live in the motorhome for a month until the French side move out, so we are off to Spain with our Great Dane.
Thought I better be legal before we go!

Just checked the link I posted and note it says up to 3.5T

As far as aware they also do HGV as they have HGVs in their fleet which need MOT.

Suggest a call to check

Don't assume that all independents fail tests to get work. VOSA keep close tabs on failure rates. I doubt if a local council discounts MOTs which is normally the ploy of those who want the opportunity of testing to generate repairs.

Centurion Travel in Midsomer Norton aren't too far from Calne. I can highly recommend them.

Redvers in Swindon did our Monaco (36ft 11.5 tons) Kevin 01793 541010 or 07932732385. He is very helpful & does bodywork & repairs to motor-homes too.
Has an enormous pit which is longer than the RV.

UPDATE.... Went to JC Group MOT Centre, Bowerhill, Melksham, SN12 6SP today. Ramp fine and the M/H passed after a new set of (legal) number plates were sourced by the MOT centre and stuck on top of the err.......... incorrectly spaced private plate ones!!

Now off to the Dordogne in France next month........we are emigrating!
