Anyone got any recommendations for the night? As a stop over. Campsite or aire not too fused

Must be dog friendly

Dont know if Camping Iseo is dog friendly but the campsite itself is very nice/clean/spotless, showers and toilets were like a 5 star site - it came recommended by a former funster (RIP Eddie) as i said not sure if the site is dog friendly but it should be - it was the reason we left, originally booked in for a few days but left after only one night as being kept awake until about 2am by a barking dog from a nearby house.

It is dog friendly. We stayed there last year and loved it.

If you just turn up? No chance whatsoever.

For any site in the Italian lakes if you want to stay in the summer holidays you need to be booking it pretty much now. It won't be long at all until they start to fill up. Also be prepared for eyewatering prices. It's worth it though (y)

Camping Quai, the site at the very end of the road, generally has space if the other's are full. Nice site with easy lakeside access. More space for bigger vans too...we couldn't fit on Camping Iseo.

Sorry, misread your post.

We've stayed at Cappucini a couple of times too. It's great (y)

Make sure you get a key for the gate to the beach. They have pretty much the best stretch of beach and the water in the lake will be warm. They have their own beach bar as well (y)

Our days tended to be wander around the town in the morning, have lunch, spend the afternoon in the water with the dogs and then retire to the beach bar

Can't really help with that, we have never been in July but I suspect the timing you suggest may be OK, weekend visitors will be leaving, the man on the entrance gate was selling some nice home made salami and cheese:)

Eight wonderful years!
Just returned from six weeks away including two nights at Lago Iseo. There's a private sosta at Sulzano which was great. It's above the town - about a 300m walk. Views of the island from some pitches. Very helpful owner - provided maps of area and printed info. Great showers - really hot and powerful! We got ferry to the island - runs every 15 mins and costs six euros return. (dogs have to be muzzled). We didn't understand bus timetable for getting to to the church at the top of island. There was a map and a timetable but they weren't together and it looked like we'd either have to spend an hour on the bus driving round the rest of the island or have to wait at the top for an hour or so. Bus driver was singularly unhelpful too. Wish we'd asked advice from Sosta chappie. We wandered round the little village and returned - nice ice creams! We then headed off north to drive round the lake and took an interesting route cos the main road was closed south of Lovere. We ended up in Pianico where there's a nice little lake (we didn't stop there). We spent the night at a Camperstop on the west side of the Lake - literally a couple of feet away - at a big layby just south of Tavenola Bergamasca just outside the local police station! Fabulous views across to Island and beyond to where we'd been the night before and free (no facilities). It's a rough bit of road so passing traffic was quite noisy. By the way, north of Sulzano there's a little town called Zone where there are interesting rock formations (called pyramids - like the "capped maidens" in the French alps). The trail is very poorly signed - no indication of scale or how long but worth persevering. The sosta seems to have moved - the car park where it should be had "no MH" signs as did other car parks including one at the church (worth a quick look) from which the walk to the rocks starts (we parked there anyway- no-one around!). There are signs to MH parking above the town but that area was chained off (we didn't investigate cos it was too far away for our old dog to walk). We were there in early May and everywhere was really quiet - I guess it won' be in July! Enjoy!
