We will be passing through the area in May heading East and certainly not against a sort of mini-meet. Still sorting out my route but a visit to Garda and probably one of the quieter lakes is on the cards. :)

Judge, I hear your frustration, it's awful when ill health gets in the way isn't it? But you've been so lucky to have had 13 years of holidays, especially with your lovely kids. Lots of new memories to be made this year, maybe in a different place or different way. I'll miss your blog as I enjoyed your travels last year too. Onwards and upwards..

Bless you....Oh I don't feel unlucky as have had 25 years of European motorhome travel far and wide. A move to the coast the next objective for a new life:)

Can't promise we will be at Lake Garda but will definitely be in the area at this time. We are off to Northern Italy for 2-3 months, leaving in the next couple of weeks.

We would be interested to attend a mini meeting (y)

How busy do the lakes get in late July early August?
We usually tour France, but fancy a change but not if going to be too busy to get around and to get on sites.

Very hot and you often get get spectacular overnight storms because of it

    Wonderful place though

If your taking kids, the fun park and the water park make for a great day out

The kids enjoy it too lol

Hi we are leaving for Lake Garda area now on the 9th May. We want to stop over for a couple of days enroute, taking about a week to get there, probably down through Switzerland.

Spending about four weeks around the Italian lakes and coming back slowly through Germany towards Moselle valley. Any ideas on where to stopover, or quiet sites around the lakes would be appreciated.

I can't advise about quiet sites around lakes Barry, but there are many lovely Stellplatz all the way up the Moselle (French) or Mosel (German) Valley, so much so that you are actually spoilt for choice. You don't actually need to book into campsites, and it's a great experience.

We love Germany, however, although both are great, we find the Mosel quieter and much less industrial than the Rhine. ;)

    Cheers,

    Jock. :)
