Stumbled upon this Lake more or less by accident, looking for somewhere to stay for a few nights before catching the ferry from Civitavecchia and it turns out to be one of the nicest places we have been to on our 3 weeks in Italy.

The town is lived in, not invaded by swarms of tourists at this time of year and has some nice unspoilt old parts, and a castle.

The icing on the cake for me though was the Italian Airforce museum at the oldest seaplane base in Italy.

I have always had an interest in aircraft, especially old ones and especially seaplanes or flying boats as I usually describe them.

The absolute gem in the museum is the Macchi M.C. 72 which whilst never winning the Schneider trophy did go on to set the world speed record for seaplanes that stands to this day.

Mixed feelings about Italy from this visit, countryside that we have seen as good as anywhere and would certainly revisit, most Cities a definite no!! The exceptions being Siena and Lucca.

Might go into more detail in another thread if I can work up the energy:)
