got a kwikee step on the rv but its gone very lazy, only goes in 3/4 of the way, however if you give it a slight push when its going in it goes all the way in fine.
this is fine if your walking away from the rv but if your driving away then the step is sticking out 4inches
any body any ideas on how to sort it out

Yep, had the very same problem myself.

At the very least, spray all the joints liberally with wd40.

To do it properly, clean off all the crud with a wire brush and then lubricate all the moving parts of the step mechanism.

Assuming it is clean and lubricated you may have a bent arm or other retriction/obstruction, failing that a tired motor
there is no specific fault to fix
mine started doing just that:Doh: and sorting out as above cured it:thumb:

When you get under there, there is a small terminal that has about 4 wires leading to it. If its like mine its pretty exposed and both times that my steps have played up, cleaning this of crud has fixed it. I now have if it all sealed up with gaffa tape.

Link Removed in our downloads section will probably cover your steps:thumb:

Whenever you are working on your steps, ensure that they are switched off. You would not be the first to lose digits on an RV step, they are vicious.

well spent best part of 2 hours flat on my back.
managed to take off the motor and arm complete with the plate.
left the step on.
took it into the garage and cleaned it up allthough it was very clean anyway.
re greased it all up put it back together and back on rv.
and..........
it still doesnt work:cry:
think it could be even worse than it was before.
so looks like i am after a new step motor assembly
anybody got a spare one floating around???
or any ideas where to get the parts

It was the step unit its self not the motor that reqs lubricating
did the step feel loose enough with the motor removed ie did it push in and out ok, slight resistance is all the motor can cope with before it stops

Have you down loaded the manual from the download section
It looks then like a tired motor or poor earth /power leads:Doh:
