On my Fiat Ducato based Kontiki the parking or side lights do not come on unless the ignition is turned on. This is inconvenient if you want to park at night and leave the vehicle for a short time. Is this normal for this van.

You don't state the age of the van. My 2005 has a small latch on the ignition switch that allows a parking position to be engaged & the key to be removed.

Parking lights are not needed in the UK when the road is subject to a 30mph limit & has street lighting. I can't remember when I last used parking lights.

its a 2002 but the latch will not allow the key to be removed. Even so the lights only work with the ignition on.

Aren't the parking lights turned on by indicating left or right with the key out of the ignition?
