Eight wonderful years!
We were awakened at 2am by our CO alarm bleeping every 30 secs. The digital display was not showing anything intelligible. Fortunately we had the instruction book with us and were able to establish that we weren't in mortal danger - just that the monitor was seven years old and needed replacing. Had we not had the instructions I think we'd have been very worried!

I have asked this many times but never had an answer, what is the readout numbers on the digital display supposed to be, bought a new one off eBay, was only a tenner so might explane it but it always shows zero ,the green light flashes occasionally that's supposed to mean it's working and if you press the test button the alarm goes off and says 81 on the display, but surely it can't be nought all the time!

Hopefully, you do not have any CO in the van so a zero reading would be OK. But, in the absence of any way for the ordinary Joe to test or calibrate the alarm how do we know ?

Don't know if this helps - our new one (A Kidde Digital - £18) will sound full alarm if levels are dangerous. You can also find out the peak level since you last reset it.

Normal is less than 30 parts per million.

It will detect 50 parts per million and sound the alarm within 60 -90 mins, 100 parts (alarm 10 -40mins) and 300 parts (less than 3 mins).

100 parts will cause slight headache, nausea and fatigue (in adults)
200 - Dizziness and headache within 2-3 hours
etc to 800 with death possible within 2-3 hours (might spoil your holiday )
