We're newbies
Hi everyone - first time on your site. We are beginners in this motorhome community and are going to view a 1998 Peugeot Boxer with 52K on the clock. This is a private sale. Are there companies that provide extended warranties if there is a good service history ?

Hello there John and Jan welcome to the forum :welcome:

We bought our first motorhome last July and got the RAC warranty with it but I'm not sure if this only available through dealers. However, I'm sure that a more knowledgable funster will be along shortly.

Enjoy your motorhome search :thumb:

You could try warranty direct but only for the mechanical, be warned without a dealer back up could be worthless as there are so many 'get outs' to not pay out

Welcome

:welcomefunster:

Hello and enjoy yourself whatever you buy.

Cant advise on warranty but Peter will only give good advise.

Maybe sometimes its not bad buying from a dealer.

The private sellers have been known to avoid the truth.

Hi and welcome can't help with warranty but I'd advise you to make sure you check it for damp. You can buy a damp meter at your local DIY store for a few pounds this could save you thousands.

7 years campers before that
damp isnt such a problem with panel van conversions more coach builts
warranties generally have so many get out clauses there not worth much try and take someone with some mechanical knowledge with you to view listen for unusual noises look every where for corrosion and fluid leaks and try to test all apliances, let the engine run long enough to see the temperature stabilise before a test drive
if buying private look for a van thats at the address on the documents that has been in there ownership at least a couple of years
oh and welcome to the fun
