Today, I've found that some of the links on the Ancestry website won't work when I click on them. They will only open if I right-click and open them in a new tab. All other websites appear to be working normally.

Having a google, it seems to be something to do with Javascript. If I disable Javascript, the links do indeed work when I left-click on them (or hit the touchpad).

So will disabling Javascript have repercussions?

Java is not the same thing as JavaScript, nor is it related.

JavaScript is very common on the web these days for handling 'dynamic' content. In theory sites should detect that you have disabled JavaScript and give you alternative content. You may find, however, that some sites just won't work properly at all.
