going up to Scotland in a few weeks time and want to go on the steam train from Fort William to Mallaig but where can we stay?I seem to remember a large car park on the loch side by the town but I suspect that overnighting won't be allowed!The train leaves about 10 ish so need to find somewhere fairly local to stay overnight!

Have stayed overnight at Glen Nevis Camp site and in the morning there are dedicated van places at the Morrison supermarket and station is just beside supermarket so that early u should find an empty space . Parking is pay and there is a man to help in car park .

There is dedicated MH & Coach parking on the Car Park between Morrisons & Lidl in Fort William BUT NOT overnight. Assuming you are doing the return trip on the Jacobite you should be alright there for the trip.
The car park is adjacent to the station.

We stayed at Bunree smashing site on edge of loch.
Bussed into Fort William for train trip.
What a great day out, worth every penny!
