Hello people. I'm from Sutton Coldfield I'm 26 and have just brought a fiat Ducato hymer 1991. Not sure what class or number. I will link a picture of it so you can tell me:) also I didn't really get much of a show around of how things work so to speak. So I will be firing lots of questions, probably simple ones but still. One thing I am struggling with, is finding someone to fit a towbar to it! I'd this a common problem on something of its age?! Look forward to hearing from you, Matt.

Well it's looks like it's a camp 46 from the picture of coachbuilds. It's had a turbo conversion by tb turbos Lancaster. With no history of this:-/ It's only a 1.9 but I still would have thought it was faster than 50-55 on the motorway! And the switchboard is all in German! lol!

first rule of motorhoming, ... the journey is the holiday.. not how fast you can get there..

but yes.. it should go a tad quicker..

Nope 2 is fine haha. Well I don't mind 60 but it seemed to be pushing it at 55. We'll see when someone has a look at it. But condition wise it's pretty mint. Especially after a good clean. I know need to to find out how everything works. Are there any guides:-//

Hi Matt, if you know what model Hymer you have try sending an email to Kundendienst@hymer.com. They were very helpful in supplying manuals for my Hymer.

When we had our Hymer (similar to the one JJ has) it had similar problems, no "pull" and struggled so we got a home tune done and it was soooooo much better. Def be worth having some one look at it as it could well be something simple. TB turbos may have gone out of business, or at least been restuctured but you might want to look at this:

It's an old post but perhaps still in business.

Good luck!

No it would be restricted by the final drive ratio. The turbo only gets you to 55 quicker .lol
Mine is happiest at the same speed as yours although it will actually get to about 110kph but it doesn't seem right subjecting an engine of that age to that speed + the noise!

I would seriously think it would be well worth spending £10 to become a full member, you can keep asking questions use the search facility and probably save yourself time and money. (y)

If the turbo add on is like a normal standard fit one then get the waste gate valve checked as they tend to stick and prevent the turbo operating properly, it's a common problem and often referred to as a symptom of 'sleepy van syndrome', ie when a MH hasn't been used much.
