So would I - they should have treated you much better than that. I can see why they need to do checks, but they also need to home their dogs. Which place was it? I see there are lots of dog rescue places in Norfolk..

I`m a newbie, now 1 year
I definitely would go somewhere else, that is so upsetting for you, I don`t think the attitude on the part of that rescue centre is acceptable, seems as though are being the big I am, there is one out there for you Dawn, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Is there any chance you could rehome privately,? some folk would rather not send the dog to a rescue centre, and would look elsewhere for a new owner, our Yorkie was, a guy in the village, we paid him as he said he wouldn`t give him away as he would be looked after if someone paid for him, he was so upset at having to part with him, couldn`t come to see him for a while does now, at least he knows his dog is loved and cared for.

Good luck
Margaret

What a bloody shower!

As Dawn (S) will say, it is sometimes really hard matching the right dog to the right home but these people aren't exactly "customer facing" are they?

Hope you get sorted soon

That's a bugger:Sad:

When I was choosing a new pal, I called in at Stockenchurch rescue at about 3:30 on a Sunday. Elvis chose me as his human straight away.

Home check came Monday morning and called from my phone to say all was well.

Elvis was home in the afternoon and in the pub beer garden by 5:00 :roflmto:

What an absolute piece of torture. How can they do that to people?
We all loved her looks and were looking forward to meeting her.
You'll find another soon.

Took you a while to find Mike as well though:thumb:

Such a shame. As mentioned a few posts ago, many dogs are available to rehome privately. Some because people want some money, some because they do not want to put dogs through the stress of kennels but many others because the rescue kennels have no room. Even an owner in genuine distress really needing to give up their dog cannot. Jane

There's no way that you'll convince Mike that that is a GSD.

Sorry D

many many years! since I was a kid
if the options are open again as to which breed to choose, can I suggest a staffie. all the big dog attributes but in a smaller package makes them ideal in a motorhome. plus sadly no problems with a wide range of choices waiting in rescue. I even had a phone call this last week from our vets trying to find a home for a young bitch quickly

I know they're brilliant dogs (my best friend has had 2) but my heart lies with a dog with a waistline (don't ask)

pick the better bred staffie and they do have a waistline. they are definitely not all big musclebound barrels. as i said its very sad but there are so many to choose from that there is bound to be one that ticks all your boxes

just looking at my boys right now and both have distinct waistlines, but my girl not quite so much although its still there

It's an odd 'thing' that draws you to a particular type of dog, although they're all great in their own way.

Dawn just showed me some pictures of Pip. Calm relaxed ever so friendly with everything. If she wasn't going away, he would be here right now as a foster..... Lovely little dog.
