Obviously they don't want the minority of people with 2 legs to feel inadequate. Probably a PC thing!

Maybe they thought it reminded them of Jake the Peg. Aka Rolf Harris

Apart from the Nuke bit I guess this might be as close to a serious answer as we get
(the nuke reference was a joke wasn't it) :notworthy:

Does the 'Three legs of Man' really come under advertising rules?

Yes the Nuke was a joke,we would have to borrow one of the English.
Not absolutely sure but a Country was only allowed to display (1) symbol, icon, badge representing there Country, the Commonwealth powers that be,:banghead: obviously got confused with 3legs.

    Hi David
The Isle of Man Three Legs on the Flag, comes from a pagan symbol from the 13th century for power, sun & life, according to good old Google, I did work there for a few years but didn't know what they meant. Pete
ps no idea why they had to be covered up for the games, probably a jobs worth.

I think the only place that stocks the underwear for the Isle of Man logo is Ann Summers.

It was on live coverage on BBC last night, the IOM athlete had a tape shaped like a letter L to 'disguise the three legged symbol
