Hi all,

Any help, thoughts or concerns are most welcome.

I have just ordered a WHALE Superfil 80 Submersible Pump, which I indeed to install (well the 12v adapter) ready for the summer.
Is it ok to spur of my 12v lighting ( i will add additional fuse) ? or would i need to run a whole new set up from the battery?

Additional fuses are no good if the existing cable you are spurring off isn't up to the current (amperage) rating of the pump. In other words if the cross sectional area of the cable is too small for the pumps needs, it could possibly get hot and melt before your additional fuse blew.

If in doubt, run in a new dedicated supply for the pump and fuse in line accordingly.

Cheers Canopus, I knew deep down that I'd probably have to go that route.
Right now to work out the A to B bit :)

many many years! since I was a kid
the lighting circuit is probably not suitable, but the water pump circuit or 12v socket would be

not being a sparky would the waterpump circuit not be live unless a tap was on ? I'd love to go this route as the wires are right where I need them

yes the circuit is permanent live. just plug the pump in when you want it to run then unplug when the container is empty
