    Approaching 80 next year.
Is that too old to think about trading in our current motorcaravan for a new one?
Dealers are quoting about £11,000 to £12,000 trade in on our van.
Health is generally okay, eyesight good but due to a problem with my left ankle I could do with switching to an auto.
Not all finance houses seem to want to offer loans at that age.
Or is it time to think about packing it all in?

Only pack in the "white box" when in your "wooden box"!

Seriously, as long as your health is good and you are safe to drive, do it.

Life is not a rehearsal, and more people regret things they have not done in life more than the things they have done.

If you can still drive safely and not cause an inconvenience to other driver, I've seen some driving as though theres nobody else on the road, then you are not too old.
I can see their point regarding finance though, you may not be around long enough to repay the loan.

If you need an auto to carry on go for it. They don't put pockets in shrouds. ;)

Well one of the actuaries at the bank I worked at told me that the longer you live the longer you're likely to live.

In a nutshell if you reach 100 the chances of reaching 101 are far higher than someone much younger and any finance house is far more interested in your ability to repay than your ability to stay alive.

If you die then in England an Wales if less than a third has been repaid they have a right to the goods.

If you're happy driving a large vehicle and fit enough to do it, why not?
Can't take the money ( or the motorhome) with you.

Gosh I know people on here say that a good moho lasts a long time, but 80 years is some going :)
But if you now want an auto (personally wouldn't have anything else) then yes, trade in for a new one (y)

    Theres logic in there somewhere.
If you are 100 then you have a max of 365 days to reach 101.
Someone who is 99 has 730 days to go and a lot more can happen in 730 days.

You are just a baby with experience ... young as you feel in your mind ... keep dancing, keep travelling but most of all keep laughing. Good luck whatever you decide.
