is I correct in assuming that a
12 volt to 240 volt invertor with a 800 watt constant load a a surge load of 1400 watt
Has the potential to pull a currant from batterys of 115 amp at full load and around 60 amp at 800 watt
The resson I ask is the supply cables provided look much too small 50 amp maybe
They are about a quarter inch diameter
My old 2200 watt one where about half inch diameter that I am using now but would like to get rid of so I can tidy up a bit and lighter cables would make it easer to do so
The cable run lenth battery to invertor would be about 3 foot

    All help greatfully received
    Peter

in my opinion a 115amp load at 3ft you should be using 25mm cable. 16mm will work but likely to get warm so using power. dont forget fuse.

That's the cross sectional area not the diameter.

Peter, I have some cable that may do the job - which you are welcome to. Are you going to Malvern? If not I will post.

After looking though advice here and in links provided I think I have Sused out my problem
I have been confusing cross section and diameter
I have some good quality heat resistant 8 mil diameter cable that very flexible that I think will do what I want
And when considering that the max load we would would ever put on the inverter is 700 watt about 60 amp battery load I am fairly sure it will be more than good enough with a 80 amp fuse on battery end
Unless someone tells me my calcs are wrong
    Cheers
